A hope floated by Sergio Reguilon. The Spanish defender is optimistic that he can become Manchester United's main left-back for the remainder of this season.
Reguilon joined Manchester United ahead of the close of the 2023 summer transfer market yesterday. He was recruited after Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia had to be sidelined for a while due to injury.
Reguilon himself has so far appeared several times in the MU first team. It could be said that he appeared quite impressive on the left side of MU's defense.
Reguilon is personally happy with his start at Manchester United. He is optimistic that he can secure his position as MU's main left back.
Reguilon said that the process of moving to Manchester United went very quickly and easily.
He said that he and Ten Hag both wanted to work together, so the transfer process didn't take long.
"The coach wanted me to join here, and coincidentally I also wanted to play at United. So the process of moving me here was very easy," Reguilon told MUTV.
Reguilon admitted that he felt suited to Ten Hag's coaching style. He also said that he was able to meet all of Ten Hag's expectations so he was optimistic that he could become MU's main left-back.
"We often talk to each other in training sessions about what he [Ten Hag] wants from his left back," continued Reguilon.
"I think we have the same philosophy. He likes hard-working left backs and I happen to be a hard worker too. So I think we have one vision," he added.
It is certain that Reguilon himself will not easily maintain his position as MU's main left back.
Tyrell Malacia will reportedly soon recover from the injury that plagued him and he is ready to compete with Reguilon for the starting position at left back.
